Introduction

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 arms Colonial Marines with the iconic hardware of the Aliens universe and a deeper customization system than the original. The M41A Classic Pulse Rifle returns as the workhorse rifle, joined by the HNT-1 E1 Alamein Revolver Rifle, the M12A1 Rocket Launcher, the OCAP-91 Volcan flamethrower, smart guns, the SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter and the BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun. The loadout reworks to a primary weapon, an infinite-ammo customizable sidearm and a Signature weapon slot. Fire, cryo, electric and piercing elemental ammo let you exploit every enemy weakness, while augments and weapon traits add another layer of endgame depth.

Weapon Roster

S

M41A Classic Pulse Rifle

The iconic Colonial Marine workhorse

CategoryRifle — the reliable all-rounder that handles Drone swarms and early missions with equal ease.
Best ForNew players and any class that wants consistent mid-range damage.
Ammo TipPairs well with fire ammo to shred soft Xenomorph swarms while you keep a railgun for heavies.
S

M12A1 Rocket Launcher

Signature heavy launcher for armor and bosses

CategoryHeavy / Signature — high damage rockets that stagger Crusher and elite enemies.
Best ForHorde mode and boss fights where burst damage matters more than sustained fire.
ConserveAmmo is limited — save rockets for elite packs and the final push of each wave.
A

OCAP-91 Volcan Flamethrower

Close-range crowd-control flamethrower

CategoryHeavy / Signature — fuel-based spray that ignites entire swarms at close range.
Best ForHolding chokepoints and clearing clustered enemies in horde mode.
PlaystyleStay behind cover and let the fire line do the work; reloading mid-swarm is fatal.
PositioningHold the flamethrower behind cover and let the fire line do the work — the fuel runs out fast if you push forward, so stay in your lane and trust the spray.
A

SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter

Energy weapon for elite and special enemies

CategoryPlasma — charged energy bolts that punch through light armor.
Best ForSpecialists who want a high-damage option without heavy ammo dependency.
ChargeHold the charge for a stronger shot, but release early against fast enemies.
Class FitThe plasma emitter fits the Specialist best — its energy weaponry synergizes with class perks that boost elemental damage, and the charge timing suits a careful playstyle.
B

BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun

Long-range precision railgun

CategoryRailgun — charged slugs that reward accurate long-range shots.
Best ForThe Hunter class and players who aim for weak points from distance.
Weak PointLines up perfectly with Hunter weak-point damage for massive single hits.
Class FitThe railgun pairs with the Hunter’s weak-point bonuses for the game’s highest single-shot damage, but it demands patience — a rushed shot is a wasted charge.
B

HNT-1 E1 Alamein Revolver Rifle

Precision revolver rifle for sustained fire

CategoryRifle — accurate semi-auto fire that rewards steady aim.
Best ForDuelist players who want a second precise primary in their two-slot loadout.
SynergyPairs with the Duelist Stay on Target perk, which ramps damage the longer you hold fire.
Duelist SynergyThe revolver rifle is built for the Duelist — its precision semi-auto fire feeds the Stay on Target ramp, and a second primary slot lets you pair it with a pulse rifle.

Core Mechanics

Weapons in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 fit into a three-slot loadout: a primary weapon, an infinite-ammo sidearm that is fully customizable, and a Signature weapon slot reserved for heavy tools like smart guns, flamethrowers and rocket launchers. Elemental ammo comes in four types — fire, cryo, electric and piercing — each tuned against specific Xenomorph weaknesses, so swapping ammo is often more effective than swapping guns. Fully upgraded weapons unlock augments that modify ammo behavior, and weapons carry up to three decal slots for cosmetic customization. Weapon traits add passive bonuses that change how a gun handles in combat, and together these systems mean a single rifle can be built into very different tools depending on your class and mission.

Advantages

The weapon pool covers every engagement range, from the close-quarters flamethrower to the long-range railgun, so any playstyle has a viable loadout regardless of class. Elemental ammo gives even a basic rifle a strong answer to every enemy type, and the customizable sidearm with infinite ammo means you are never completely dry in a horde. The Signature slot adds a powerful crowd-clearing tool that rewards smart cooldown management, and the deep customization system means upgrading your favorite gun is a meaningful progression goal that carries through the whole endgame. New weapon drops, augments and balance patches will be tracked here as the meta develops after launch, keeping the weapon advice current.

Challenges

Heavy and Signature weapons tend to be slow to reload and limited by ammo or fuel, punishing players who miss their shots and leaving them vulnerable during reloads. The railgun and plasma emitter require charge time, leaving you exposed to fast enemies like the Striker if you fire too late. Because the game has not launched, exact weapon stats are drawn from verified pre-release sources and may change with balance patches, so treat specific damage numbers as provisional until you have confirmed them in-game after launch. The weapon pages will be updated with confirmed stats and tier judgments after launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which weapon is best in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2?+
The M41A Classic Pulse Rifle is the most versatile all-rounder and the safest choice for new players. For crowd control in horde mode, the OCAP-91 Volcan flamethrower is excellent against clusters. The M12A1 Rocket Launcher and BD-03 Djinn Railgun are the strongest boss-killers. Match your weapon to your class and mission type rather than chasing a single best gun.
What do the four elemental ammo types do?+
Fire ammo burns and is strong against soft targets, cryo ammo slows and freezes enemies, electric ammo chains between groups and is strong against synths, and piercing ammo penetrates armor and multiple targets. Each Xenomorph has a weakness, so carrying two ammo types lets you always exploit whatever your squad faces.
How does the Signature weapon slot work?+
The Signature slot holds a heavy tool — smart guns, the flamethrower or the rocket launcher — that occupies the third weapon slot. These weapons are powerful crowd-clearers with limited ammo or fuel, so they are best saved for elite packs, bosses and horde waves. Fully upgraded weapons unlock augments that further modify how the Signature behaves.

Quick Tips

💡

Carry two elemental ammo types that cover different weaknesses — fire for soft Xenomorphs and cryo for fast movers is the most flexible pairing across the campaign, and it lets you keep firing effectively whenever the wave mix changes between one biome and the next. Learning each weapon’s handling before you commit upgrades saves resources in the long run.

💡

Upgrade your Signature weapon first: fully upgraded Signature tools unlock augments that change ammo behavior, which is the largest single damage increase in the game and turns a good tool into a mission-defining one that carries your squad through elite packs. Learning each weapon’s handling before you commit upgrades saves resources in the long run.

💡

In horde mode, a flamethrower or smart gun in the Signature slot holds a lane on its own — position it on a chokepoint and it can clear entire waves while you handle flanks, but keep an eye on its fuel or ammo so it never goes dark mid-wave. Learning each weapon’s handling before you commit upgrades saves resources in the long run.
